The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek

This is the classic track to the heart of the Himalayas.  As you come up to the Annapurna Base Camp and the Machhapuchhre Base Camp you are surrounded by soaring enormous glaciers and Himalayan peaks.  At that point you can congratulate yourself having accomplished a real expedition into an uninhabited wilderness that only a few will ever have seen, and then only on a post card.

Even though the mountain Machhapuchhare is not permitted to climb there several seasonal accommodations.  The best views are two hours further up at Annapurna Base Camp.

Day 11            Machhapuchhare Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp, (4,130m/13,550ft)

The climb to the Annapurna base camp takes about two hours and is best done early in the day before clouds roll in.  There are only 4 lodges here which get incredibly crowded at the height of the season.  You might consider to take an extra rest day between Himalayan Hotel Deurali, Machhapuchhare Base Camp or Annapurna Base Camp.  We recommend spending three nights at the Sanctuary.
